J/35 Fleet 11 Winter 2025 Planning Meeting
Location: North Star Sail Club
Date: Feb 1, 10:00am
Agenda items:
- 2025 Season Championship Events: Anyone can suggest events for our Season Championship. Based on tradition the following would constitute our 2025 Championship.
- Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Detroit, May 30 – June 1st
- Bayview Mackinac Race, July 12 (9-entries required for One Design Class)
- Throwdown in Motown – dates to be confirmed by Feb 1. Proposed Aug 16, 17
- North Star Sail Club Fall Series – dates to be confirmed by Feb1. Proposed Sept 28, Oct 5, 12, 18
- Other J35 Races:
- Top Gun Spring Series: May 6 Tune-Up, May 13, 20, 27, June 3, 10, 17, 24
- Cheese-Mo: June 27
- Top Gun Summer Series: Aug 5, 12, 19, 26, Sept 2, 9, 16
- Our 2025 Season Championship Class Rules:
- Mac Sail allowance? Last year we voted to allow 2 staysails. Do we want to:
i Continue with 10 class legal sails plus 2-stay sails?
ii Allow Asymmetric sails? (we would get likely one more boat, Papa Gaucho II, if asym’s were allowed)
iii Other Ideas or considerations? - Should we consider having ballast plans for:
i All of the boats.
ii Boats that require additional ballast.
iii Just keep doing what we’ve been doing?
PHRF Midwest J35 Certificates:
My understanding is that if your PHRF application has only J35 Class Legal Sails you will receive a rating of 72. If you use staysails or asymmetric sails your rating will be 69
